Wells Welcome Hub

From October 2022 we will be opening a hub at The Portway Annexe - Wells Welcome Hub. Since March WCN have been working with statutory organisations, local organisations and individuals to respond to the needs of the Ukrainian community settling in Wells and the surrounding area. The Wells Welcome Hub has been set up by WCN in partnership with Wells City Council, CHARIS, Welcome Hubs and Somerset County Council.

We aim to create a flexible, welcoming and agile hub that is able to respond to individual needs.

  • A resource for sponsor families and guests in Wells

  • A central information point that can signpost sponsors and guests to information they might need.

  • A group that can support and work with sponsors and refugees to provide the help they need.

  • To help form a supportive community and meeting places for refugees and their families.

  • Language tuition and support

  • A communication point.

Homes for Ukraine: A toolkit for guests & hosts

The Institute for Research into Superdiversity at the University of Birmingham is glad to present a toolkit for all stakeholders involved in the Homes for Ukraine scheme.

The toolkit operates as a checklist of the factors that hosts and guests might consider when matching, during the pre-arrival phase, the first weeks after the arrival and for medium and longer term integration. It also includes some guidance on how to have difficult conversations for hosts and guests.

Please use the link below to access the website with the toolkit:
